At the 10th Police Station in Rosario, five prisoners attempted to escape but were recaptured, while a sixth managed to flee amidst a riot. The inmates led the protest due to the precarious conditions in which they were living inside the precinct. The escape occurred during the early hours, when the five prisoners fled over the roofs of the building located on Darregueira Street at number 1100. Despite this, the quick police action allowed for their recapture in the vicinity of the station.
While the search operation was underway, the inmates who remained at the police station started a riot demanding answers about the deplorable conditions of the facility and overcrowding. The protesters were identified as Elías Fabián García, 31 years old, Walter Mariano Fernández (27), Joel Martín Olguín (24), Alan Joel Verón (21), and Gerardo Román Peralta (22). Although the available space is for 20 people, it houses a total of 53 inmates.
After several hours of tension, the situation was brought under control, and it was announced that all prisoners would be transferred to provincial penitentiary facilities. However, during the headcount of the detainees, the escape of Gustavo Raúl Silva was discovered, who had been incarcerated for drug-related offenses since February 15. Authorities are maintaining an extensive operation to locate him.
